There are multiple ways to add money to your Varo Bank Account:
● Direct Deposit of payroll, benefits, or other payments
● Transfers from an external bank account
● Transfers from digital wallets like Paypal, Square, and Cash App
● Mobile Deposit of paper checks
● Deposit cash
Direct Deposit of payroll, benefits, or other payments
Varo accepts direct deposit for payroll, government benefits, and other payments (e.g., insurance payment, AirBNB income, Stripe transfer). To set up Direct Deposit, you will need your Varo Bank Account number and routing number. For more information on setting up Direct Deposit, see How do I set up direct deposit with Varo?
Varo offers Early Direct Deposit, which means that you can get access to your hard-earned pay up to two days early, if your employer supports it.*
Varo also accepts Instant Pay from Uber and Express Pay from Lyft. For more information see Does Varo work with Uber and Lyft?
*Faster access to funds is based on comparison of traditional banking policies and deposit of paper checks from employers and government agencies versus deposits made electronically. Direct Deposit and earlier availability of funds is subject to payer’s support of the feature and timing of payer’s funding.
Transfers from an external bank account
You can initiate a transfer from an external bank account to your Varo Bank Account either from within the Varo Mobile App or through your external bank’s online banking tools. Transfers of this type, which are called ACH transfers, can take 2-4 business days and require verification that you own the external account before you can start. The verification process involves either entering your login credentials or verification of two small test deposits (a few cents each) to make sure the two banks are linked properly before a transfer is made.
Transfers from digital wallets
You can easily set up transfers from digital wallets such as Cash App, Paypal, and Square. Follow the instructions in the wallet’s mobile app or website.
Depending on how quickly you need to move the money, you can choose to do it a slower, free way with an ACH transfer or if you need the money sooner, some digital wallets can do an instant transfer for a small fee. (Please check with the digital wallet provider to determine its fees.)
To set up an ACH transfer, connect your digital wallet to your Varo Bank Account. You’ll need your Varo routing number and account number, which can be found in the Varo Mobile App at Accounts>Varo Bank Account>Details. This typically takes 1-2 business days and may require a verification process during initial setup.
Some wallets, including Cash App, Square and Paypal support instant transfers (they may charge a fee, so read the fine print). For this type of transfer, you will need to provide your Varo Visa® Debit Card number. These transfers typically happen in a few minutes.
You can deposit checks by taking a photo with the Mobile Deposit feature in the Varo Mobile App. Limits on the dollar amount or number of deposits you can make through Mobile Deposit will be disclosed to you when you access the Mobile Deposit feature using the Mobile App. Limits may change based on the length of time the Varo Bank Account is opened and prior account activity.
